Sell Your Jamjar is a member of The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) - one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the United Kingdom.
The aim of the SMMT is to support and promote the interests of the automotive industry in this country at home and abroad. The trade body works closely with its members, such as Sell Your Jamjar, and acts as the voice of the motor industry, promoting its position to the UK Government and the European Union (EU), stakeholders and the media.
Founded in 1902 by a group of 32 businessmen, the SMMT now represents the interests of over 500 automotive companies providing strength to one of the UK's most significant industries.
The trade body helps members keep informed of economic, market or business factors that affect the automotive sector in the UK such as producing reports on vehicle registrations, production outlook, retail forecasts and more. This enables members to plan or shape their automotive businesses accordingly to market trends.
The SMMT's Automotive Information Services (AIS) and Motor Vehicle Registration Information System (MVRIS) is considered the most accurate source of data in the country for new vehicle registration statistics in the UK, including cars, light and heavy commercial vehicles, buses, coaches, taxis and more are all recorded in the MVRIS database with comprehensive information available on all vehicles.
Regular events are organised by the SMMT using its largest automotive database, the Motor Industry Directory and Automotive Supplier Finder, as well as international trade missions that are designed to raise the profile of the UK automotive industry. It also hosts seminars, business briefings, events, exhibitions and more.
In order to become a member of the SMMT, "Companies have to be directly, primarily, and continuously engaged in all or any of the activities of the concept, design and manufacture, sale, after sale, disposal and recycling of motor vehicles, components and accessories in the UK for at least 12 months."
